Should I Go for an Expensive Car Audio Logic Amplifier?

Should I Go for an Expensive Car Audio Logic Amplifier?

When I hear about how my friends are bargain hunting for cheap amps, it gets me a little concerned.

I realize that budgets are tighter than usual right now. And with car prices on the rise, most of us don’t want to lay out too much extra on sound, aesthetics and a revamp.

But car sound is one area I don’t compromise on. Sure, it costs me to fit my car with decent audio equipment, but in the long run it pays for itself in convenience, quality and lifespan.

One of the choices I recently made was buying the JL Audio JX1000/1D 1000 Watt RMS Monoblock Class D Car Amplifier. It came at a steeper price than I expected. But by the time you’ve seen my reasoning behind it, I’m sure you’ll agree that it was worth it.

Features of a Good Amplifier

There’s a difference between buying for price, and buying for value. Price and value are connected, which is why I make sure of all the features of an amp before I pay the asking price. If the features don’t match the price, I’m out of there.

Whenever I buy a car Audio Logic amplifier, this is what I look out for:

  • Guarantees and warranties: Is this amplifier going to last me for a long time, or will I need to have it repaired, replaced or upgraded in future?
  • Performance: How much bragging rights do I get when I buy this amplifier?
  • Quality: Will this amplifier break or go faulty after months or years of regular use?
  • Appearance: Can this amplifier be installed in my car without being an eyesore?

For all the above, I found the JL Audio JX1000 to be a real winner!

But in my mind, I still had to justify that price. Was it really worth it?

Why Should You Invest in a Superior Amplifier?

The short answer was yes. But here’s why:

1.      It’s a Long Term Investment

Over the years I’ve bought several amplifiers and other car sound devices. One thing I’ve learned is that you get what you pay for.

Before I could afford decent amps, I would search for anything at the lowest price I could find. This was always a headache though. And the thing about cheap amps is they’re often non-refundable because they were on sale or part of a clearance.

What was the headache you ask?

  • Cheap amplifiers often compromise your wiring and other connected devices like speakers and tweeters.
  • Installation can be a nightmare when your amp is low quality.
  • Tweaking the sound takes twice as long, and it’s never quite exactly the way you want it.
  • You’ll end up replacing it sooner or later anyway, because the lack of sound quality will compel you to do so.

So you may as well invest in the right amp now, instead of wasting your money on instant NON-gratification.

2.      Your Car Revamp Goes Smoother

When I’m building up my car, I like to do dedicate a few hours on the weekend to getting everything perfect.

A few hours though—not a few days. I’m married with a kid and my wife wouldn’t like it if I spent all weekend fidgeting with the car.

Those few extra dollars buy me something more valuable than anything else; time with my family. By investing in a good amp, I avoid all the issues that come with cheap components and unclear instructions.

The JL Audio JX1000/1D 1000 Watt RMS Monoblock Class D Car Amplifier was an excellent buy, because it took less than three hours to put everything together.

It’s like I always say: If the amp goes in easy, the rest just fall into place.

3.      Aesthetics are Improved

Call me crazy but I would absolutely pay more for an amp if it’s easier to conceal. My new JL Audio JX1000 is slim & sleek, and installing it under my dashboard was a cinch.

I love high performance amps, but I would never compromise by choosing one over another that’s more appealing after it’s been installed.

4.      Performance: Better Sound!

Now for the reason you bought that amp in the first place: performance!

The best reason to spend a little more on your amp is for performance. Sound quality, clarity, volume and bass… these are the aspects we love about car sound!

If you’ve ever heard the difference between cheap car sound and quality car sound, I can tell you it’s all in the amp. That’s why I bought the JL Audio JX1000 for my car—because I only wanted the best.

5.      Preservation of Other Components

Faults in your amp will cause damage to other components in your car sound. A bad installation or an incompatibility between devices can lead to damaged tweeters, speakers and any other addons you may had included.

Keep your car sound setup safe from dodgy devices and opt for quality over price in this case. Nothing is worth the risk of damaging your expensive equipment.

[Conclusion]

Ultimately a purchase like this is a high value one. I’m persuaded that in the long run, I will save on my car sound expenses because I’ve already invested in a high quality device.

In my experience—and I’m sure you’ll agree—I have found cheap amps to be more trouble than the money they save.

If it’s quality, long term savings and durability you want, then I’d highly recommend the JL Audio JX1000/1D 1000 Watt RMS Monoblock Class D Car Amplifier as a keen choice.

Oh, and now that I’ve convinced you to pay more for a high quality amp, I just wanted you to know that the JL Audio JX1000/1D 1000 Watt RMS Monoblock Class D Car Amplifier is actually relatively affordable when you evaluate what you get.

So I guess I am a bargain hunter after all.
