The restaurant business is the regular business found everywhere.  It does not mean the restaurant business is free from risks.  The risk factor is always available in any business. Certain requirements have to be met. Some are more general while the others are specific to this type of business, like food waste control and recycling. A Restaurant is a type of business which specialises in preparing and serving food and drinks to customers in return gets money for their services. Typically one approaches a restaurant to have meals.  Earlier meals were served, and the same was eaten on the restaurant premises, but now to facilitate the customers, restaurants are providing some offers such take-home parcels or free food delivery services.  This is done to attract the customers.

However, there are many types of restaurants.  Each type of restaurant has a unique facility, and the investment required also differs.

Fast food restaurants: In this kind of restaurant, food served is speedy.  These can be run by small-scale street vendors to large enterprises.  Normally the customer or the diner has to go and place an order and take the food himself.  There is no separate serving staff.  Only cooks and cleaning staff are available.  The price of the food is also comparatively less, and mostly food commonly had is being served at fast food restaurants.

Casual dining restaurant: This is a restaurant that serves food in a relaxed atmosphere, and the food is priced moderately. Experts have analyzed that this kind of restaurants has occupied the market segment between fast food restaurants and fine dining restaurant. These offer alcohol also apart from food.

Family style restaurants: Family style restaurants are a part of casual dining restaurants where only food is served without any alcohol as the concept gives importance to family values.  Here food is served on platters, and the diners serve themselves.

Fine dining restaurants: Fine dining restaurants are restaurants which gives complete service.  The food can be ordered from the lace you sit, and it is served very elegantly.  The staffs are very professional and do their duty very calmly and politely. The decor of this kind of restaurant is exquisite and fantastic.  However, the price of the food served in such places is always high.

Ethnic restaurants: This kind of restaurants mainly concentrates and specialises in preparing and serving the ethnic food or national cuisines.

Barbecue: This type of restaurant specializes in barbecue-style cuisine and dishes.

Buffet: This is a kind of restaurant where food is served on platters in a separate place.  The diners are given the option of choosing the food they want and are free to serve the quantity of food they can eat.  There is a broad range of food kept to be consumed by diners.  As the choice is given to eat what they want, the diners are happy to pay the price even though it is a little bit high.  However, this kind of restaurant has staff also which serves the food when they are requested.
