Man and Avatar

It is tough to imagine how one person can imagine such a thing called Pandora, its forests and the animals. Pure Talent !

The movie has already proved its worth. Everywhere, the reviews go 5/5. I hardly remember any movie getting a cent percent mark ! And every discussion that happens about movies stops at giving a rate 4.5/5 thinking there cannot be a ‘the best’ movie. Avatar might fit the deal. img-sx-top---avatar_065613634348

Not a movie with hard story line up, no hard and heart crunching dialogues, still Avatar will definitely make an impression. We virtually go on to a different planet and try to get square with the our species itself. Interesting plot.

It will be shocking to see once again, (from an anthropological perspective) how destructive man, and his motives can be! I have no doubts whatsoever to think whether we are capable of destroying a complete tribe on another planet for a resource to supplement  our energy demands. (to just update with a most recent example, Man has failed to come in terms with Climate @ Copenhagen for reducing carbon emissions causing Global Warming).

The most glaringly sad scene for me is when the whole screen goes into dark smoke after lots of destructive efforts in the final battle episode of the movie. Truly the dark side of man.

Coming out of  it, lots of people around the globe are mad at the movie. If everyone together accepts something is good, it should either be really good, or something is visibly mad. Worth full is this madness. We are personally mad at many things, be it some south Indian Sambar or devastating triple century by Sehwag and so on and on. If all of these can fit the bill, Avatar too can !

Myself, I will either be mad at a girl and if it doesn’t work, I will be content with being mad @ Avatar. avatar-poster

More interestingly to me and my colleagues @ Adobe, the inspiring fact about Avatar is that, some of the Adobe products (Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Connect) were used in the post production and collaboration of various Direction department teams in the making of the movie. So close to Avatar is our relation in this regard. Kudos to all our fellow-colleagues who made this happen.

At a point in the movie, I felt like having more of Avatar. Wanted to have some two hours more of the movie. Very few times we will have this kind of a feeling in a movie. You look around in the theater, everyone is either fully immersed in the movie with their big black un-suited 3D spects. The one time I felt like that was in a very recent Tollywood movie ‘Magadheera’.

Tollywood has given a movie of its lifetime. Hollywood has given made a pre-avatar and post-avatar era (in the words of RGV!) . Tiger Woods has already made news. When will Bollywoood make one? (Its been quite some time now after Sholay and DDLJ)
For all those who didn’t watch Avatar yet, do watch it. in 3D.
