Technology Behind Robotic Vacuums – How they Work

Vacuums have been changing lives for good. As lazy heads as we are becoming cleaning is like one of the worst things you have got to do, especially when you have not planned it already. Consider it like this, your whole house is a mess, but you are not bothered as you live alone and no one is going to visit. In all this chilling you get a sudden call that your parents are visiting or some friend in back in town. What a nightmare that would be, but thank God robotic vacuums are here to save you the day. They will latterly do your work for you. While you are out there doing the dishes, your robotic vacuum is cleaning the carpets. They just cutwork and effort to half.

Let’s have a better look at how these robotic machines work. So that you can get the best out of them.

Basic knowledge

So basically, what happens inside them is quite definitive when it comes to the basic algorithm, but the minor details vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. They are built with artificial intelligence technique where they keep sucking the area and keep moving forward until they are met with some sort of hurdle, then they change their path and keep up the good work.

This is the basic approach of very small and was made in the beginning when firstly artificial intelligence was used. But now artificial intelligence has been enhanced so much that, they can analyze through the sensors whether the room is clean or not. If the room is already clean, they will move to the next location you have asked them to clean. Isn’t it the best thing ever?

The best robot vacuum is the one in which self-navigation system is installed, but better things come with greater prices.

Why do we need robotic vacuums?

These robotic vacuums were never developed to do all the choruses for you rather they were developed to do the little extra work to make your house super clean. But then there are some people that do not even clean their houses for ages, well! In that case, the small choruses count a lot. As per they say, “it’s better to have something rather than having nothing at all.”

The Roomba Red

Now let’s talk about some inner businesses as well. The Roomba Red, the smallest and most well priced robotic vacuums in the market right now. As their size and price are feasible and they might look not much, but they can actually perform a really good job. They have almost 3 hours of full battery time, and when they are fully charged, they can do the continuous cleaning for almost 2 hours. As their size is small, they can do better cleaning by approaching much smaller areas, which are ignored while we humans are cleaning. 2 hours will be enough for cleaning almost three rooms at a time. Needless to say, these robotic vacuums are battery driven, and they have two embedded batteries (that need at least 18 volts to be charged).

Roomba Navigation

The Roomba Red is the simplest form of robotic vacuums. Others have embedded self-navigation system, which is why their prices go higher respectively. Self-navigation system makes the vacuum self-aware, and they can make many of the decision by themselves without any supervision from anyone. This system is a combination of activators and sensors. They are made up of small chips. Sensor chips are connected to a small camera (in most cases), where they can analyze the whole situation by themselves.

The information gathered by sensors acts as input for activators. Activators perform the practical work based on this information.
