The glitz and glamour of the film industry—Tollywood—often mask the brutal reality of the struggle beneath the surface. While blockbusters celebrate larger-than-life heroes, director Puri Jagannadh’s 2008 film, Neninthe (I am the way I am), chose to turn the spotlight on the unsung fighters: the assistant directors, the dancers, and the dreamers who face daily humiliation just to keep their hope alive.
The film’s protagonists embody this struggle: Ravi (Ravi Teja), the passionate assistant director juggling his cinematic dreams with the harsh reality of his mother’s illness; and Sandhya (Siya Gautham), the talented group dancer whose aspiration for stardom is constantly threatened by exploitation from her own family and ruthless goons like Yaadu.
