That’s why the focus of this article is on the best dive sites around the island.

Plus, another impressive and popular activity in Bali is freediving. However, freediving is not for the inexperienced. On the contrary, it’s a bit more adventures and exciting than scuba diving, but it comes with more challenges. If you’re looking for higher levels of adrenalin, you should try freediving as well.

Let’s begin with the countdown!

1)    Menjangan Island

One of Bali’s true natural treasures is the famous Menjangan Island (Deer Island). The island is a part of the Taman National Bali Barat park in the northwest area of Bali. This spot is so breathtaking because of the beautiful coral reef gardens that surround the whole island. Can you imagine how impressive the underwater sight would be?

Furthermore, there is a large and diverse eco biology for every diver that wants to see aquatic animals. This is the ideal place for fish and coral reef exploration. In fact, there are numerous coral species and colorful, tropical fish that will catch your attention.

However, that’s not even the best part about Menjangan Island. You will also catch a glimpse of turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays, nudibranchs, frogfish and more. The visibility is good and thus suited for every level diver.

2)    Pemuteran

Another hidden gem is the beautiful Pemuteran. This is a small fisherman village, on Bali’s north coast. The jungle is jade green, and the water is clear blue, what more can one ask for? For a dive beneath the surface, of course!

The Pemuteran adventure begins even before you get to the designated destination. Because if you want to get there, you would have to go through the mountain road past Bedugul. Along the way, you will see three spectacular vistas on three different lakes. As a bonus, you can marvel at some of the most beautiful temples Bali has to offer.

However, none of the beauty displayed above the surface comes close to the beauty of the diving sites. The most popular spots are the Napoleon Reef, Biorock Reef, Temple Wall, and Bio Wreck. There are artificial metal structures in the form of shipwreck covered in beautiful corals with several species of fishes swimming nearby.

You might even get lucky and see some big ocean animals like whale sharks, eagle rays and reef sharks. For every diver that wants to revel in underwater beauty, Pemuteran is THE paradise spot.
