Daydreaming? Check Out This Top 6 World Travel Bucket List

Do you have a bucket list? Around 95 percent of Americans have a bucket list full of places that they want to go before they shuffle off this mortal coil.

We get it. There are so many places that make you want to sell your home and spend your days traveling the world. Yet what are the most beautiful, interesting, and spectacular places that you need to go to, and how many have you already been to?

In this guide, we’re going to compile a top 6, the ultimate world travel bucket list, to help you optimize your pre-death travel plans. Ready to start planning your vacations for after Covid? Then keep reading!

  1. Australia

Australia has had an appeal to Americans for generations and it’s easy to see why. There’s something inherently interesting and almost mystical about the isolated land down under.

If you want to experience Australia, then you need to see Sydney, its largest city. This cosmopolitan metropolis is home to sights like the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House that are emblematic of Australia and there’s a rich cultural heritage to dig into.

However, no visit to Australia would be complete without a visit to the outback and to Uluru, or Ayer’s Rock. This monolithic stone is a sacred site to the Australian aborigines and has a stark beauty that you won’t find anywhere else on Earth.

  1. The Grand Canyon

While a trip to Australia might have you googling for people who pay cash for homes, a trip to the Grand Canyon won’t require as much of an investment.

As Parks and Rec’s Ron Swanson once said, crying at the Grand Canyon is entirely appropriate. This natural marvel is, like Uluru, completely unique to this small corner of the American southwest.

This mighty canyon has been hewn out of solid rock by the Colorado river over millions of years and it’s incredibly huge. Words can’t do this wonder justice: it is 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide. It’s also one mile deep!

A trip to the Grand Canyon should be on everyone’s bucket list.

  1. The United Kingdom

If you would like to see the nation that shaped the world long before America, the United Kingdom is where you need to go. This country is responsible for a huge number of cultural touchstones that we know and love back home. It’s a land of scientific innovation, of fantastic art and music, and of incredible history.

London is, of course, well worth a visit: Buckingham Palace, the British Museum, the Houses of Parliament, and the National Gallery are worth the cost of the plane ticket alone but venture outside of London and you’ll find even more beauty.

Why not head to the West Country county of Wiltshire, to see the iconic white horses, carved into the chalk hills? Head north and the Peak District and the Lake District and their outstanding beauty is waiting for you. Head further north and you’ll reach Scotland, where Edinburgh and the Lochs will warm your heart (or is that the whisky?)

  1. Japan

If Asia is your bag, then Japan is a must-visit. When you think of Japan, it’s easy to think of Tokyo and nowhere else, much like with the UK and London.

Tokyo is well worth a visit too, don’t get us wrong. This massive metropolis is bustling with beautiful bars, amazing nightlife, top-quality food, ancient history, and more culture than you could shake a very artistic stick at.

Yet rent a car or better yet, catch a Shinkansen bullet train, and you’ll see there’s much more to this amazing country than its capital. From the enjoyably seedy Osaka to the historic capital of Kyoto, you’ll never get bored, and all that’s only on the island of Honshu!

Head north to Hokkaido and you’ll find deep snow in winter, with landscapes more akin to Scandinavia than anywhere else. If you’re more of a sun worshipper, then catch a flight to Okinawa and soak up the sun on its beautiful beaches.

Japan is a nation of contrasts and one that every world traveler needs to visit.

  1. Italy

Italy is a nation that’s never far from our minds as a society. This nation is responsible for the Roman Empire, which gave the world so many technological and cultural innovations that listing them would take days.

Yet there’s much more to this nation than its history. Today, Italy is a forward-thinking foodie’s paradise.

Whether you want to see the Duomo in Florence while drinking top-notch coffee, eat some authentic Neapolitan pizza while dipping your toes in the Med, or eat pollo alla cacciatora in Milan, this nation is heaven for those who want to savor the tastes of the world.

  1. Kenya

If you’re the adventuresome type, then grab a safari suit and book a ticket to Nairobi! Kenya is a safe and stable country in the heart of Africa, and a place where you can get a truly authentic African experience.

This nation has maintained its proud culture through years of foreign imperialism, with groups like the Maasai still living as they did in generations past. The modern capital of Nairobi is full of beautiful sights and incredible restaurants.

If you want to watch animals in their natural habitat, there are any number of safari tours that you can go on that let you explore the savannah and see Lions, giraffes, elephants, and much more!
