How the “Cloud” Is Changing the World

Most of us have experienced a nightmarish situation like this one:

We have only used one computer to store all of our data for years and years. Everything is on this electronic device. There are thousands of pictures of our family and friends. All of our financial documents are saved on it. We don’t even remember all of our account logins simply because it is automatically saved on this computer.

And then the unthinkable happens.

Whether from an accident, a virus, or just the technology growing old, the computer bites the dust and we are left with only memories of our lost data.

Enter the Cloud

Trying to explain the cloud technology to someone when it first became known was a bit hard to do. It did not matter if the person was a senior citizen or much younger, the thought of saving most of your data in the magical and mystical cloud was hard to wrap your brain around.

For some people, they could not grasp that our data could just be saved on the internet and then, in turn, be accessible from any device in the world. With this technology, we no longer need computers with huge amounts of memory as most of our data does not need to be saved on the actual device any longer.

Schools Are Benefiting

More and more school districts are jumping on board with the 1:1 initiative. This simply means that there will be a computer device available for each child in every classroom. With the availability of the cloud and being able to store data on it, Chromebooks are the device of choice for schools as they are extremely fast and do not contain much memory. And yes, they are much less expensive than alternate computer devices and this is key when speaking about school budgets.

Businesses Are Thankful, Too

An interesting study by the International Data Group showed that 90 percent of cloud users combine the cloud with other options to sort of create a hybrid strategy for storing data. It also demonstrated that businesses that use the cloud, analyze data, and are up to date on security experience revenue growth 53 percent faster than their competition. If a business would like to upgrade its network and save money at the same time, it could minimize financial impacts thanks to cloud storage in Canada. Servers don’t need as much storage capacity any longer when you incorporate the cloud into your network.
