How to Maintain Wellness at Work

Have a healthy mind and be physically fit to achieve success.

Often times people forget about their well-being and only focus on how much they can do at work and how much more they can earn. Because of this, their health deteriorates and they risk the quality of their work which they have always treasured.

It may not be easy to balance health, wellness and work, but it is necessary. At the end of the day, it is also your health and wellness that you should maintain and not just your work, so as early as today, apply this wholesome guide.

Hydrate, Fuel Up!

Water works wonders for the body. It flushes out toxins, improves our physical performance, prevents countless diseases, helps distribute nutrients to our body, regulates blood pressure, lubricates joints, keeps the skin healthy, and I’m sure that’s not all of it.

Now, think about all the benefits that you unconsciously let go just because you forgot to drink enough glasses of water. What a waste, right?

The good news is, it’s not too late. You can start now and never stop drinking at least eight glasses daily. What it takes is only a minute more or less every day towards your first step to a healthier you.

Get Some Sun!

Just like plants, we, humans, depend on the sun for our survival. We do not only need it for light, but for good health too.

The “sunshine vitamin” keeps our bones strong, lowers stress levels, improves sleep, improves brain function and that’s just enough to keep you go through a whole day of work. Surely, you’ll perform better, and achievements will come to you in no time — the Sun may even be your way to a promotion.

Do you have problems finding some time to get some sunlight?

How about taking a bike to your office? If work is not that far from home, a walk under the sun will do. Working the night shift should not a problem too. Take some time off the morning to jog, walk or bike. Not a thing should stop you from getting that sun that your body craves, scratch a day off the calender for a “Sun-day.”

Stand Up and Feel Your Legs

The body was never designed to sit all day. In fact, sitting kills just as much as smoking. Taking a little walk away from your desk every 30 minutes is a good way to keep yourself away from serious back pain and chronic diseases that you can get from sitting too much.

Why not try these simple tips for once to avoid back pain and other diseases?

  • If you work from home, invest in a table that you can adjust to a standing desk.
  • Set up an alarm for every 30 minutes to remind you to stand up.
  • Keep your things away from your table.
  • If an alarm would cause disturbance, ask a friend to do this exercise with you.
  • Think of your own creative ways to avoid sitting all day. No excuses!

Simply, Eat

Not a single day should go by that you don’t eat the healthiest food. I assure you, healthy eating habits will change your whole life!

Eat your breakfast before you go to work. You will not only be a more happy person the moment you enter your office, but you’ll function just how you’d want to. Healthy eating habits promote a better mood and a sharper memory.

No time? Not true!

If you don’t have time to eat your breakfast, may it be because of long travel time or simply not having the appetite to eat too early, it should not be a problem. Prepare your meal and take it to work. To feel embarrassed because you bring food to your work table is not an option. Remember, this is all for your health and for the betterment of your performance on the job. After you get used to it, you’ll definitely notice positive changes in your body and mind. Your co-workers might even follow along!
