What is Gandhi Jayanti?
Gandhi Jayanti is observed on 2 October to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was born in 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat. It is one of India’s three national holidays, alongside Republic Day and Independence Day. The United Nations observes the same date as the International Day of Non-Violence, a designation it adopted in 2007 in honour of his philosophy.
