Why November and December Are the Best Time to Visit Mexico

While the majority of the US is facing another (probably snowy) winter, many people are secretly hoping for warmer weather and sunny days at the beach.

Our southern neighbor, Mexico, may have what these people need. The benefit of being closer to the equator is that it never gets really cold in Mexico, apart from the higher regions.

Experts at Oscar Padilla Mexican Insurance share some reasons why you might want to visit Mexico in November and December.

You May Find Real Bargains

Not many people can fathom just how different the climate in Mexico is than that in the US. That means that the vast majority of people won’t even think to plan a swimming and sunbathing holiday in the middle of the winter.

That means that there will be plenty of vacancies in the best resorts in Mexico, as well as on flights down there. No matter if you plan to fly or drive down to Mexico, you are likely to find quite a bargain no matter where you go.

You Can See Whales

As the weather gets colder in the waters around Alaska, a number of different whale species start their annual migration towards warmer waters. In the Pacific Ocean, both humpback whales and Pacific gray whales spend their winters in the coastal waters of Mexico.

Even though the best time to see humpback whales is probably in January, when the babies are born, you can still see them in November and December as well.

Gray whales are a tourist favorite because they are very friendly and inquisitive and they come quite close to the boats for some amazing experiences and photos.

If you are lucky, you may spot some other kinds of whales as well, but these two species are the most common and the most likely to be close.

The Beaches Are Open

The weather in Mexico doesn’t follow the traditional four-season pattern that most of us recognize. Instead, there are rainy seasons and hurricane seasons that you might want to avoid for obvious reasons, and there are periods when the weather is ideal for swimming, sunbathing and general leisure.

If you are on the Pacific coast, the rainy season ends in October, but the majority of tourists won’t show up until the middle of December or later. That means that you have a great window of opportunity to visit Mexico when it is not too crowded, but the weather is ideal for all the traditionally summer activities.

On the Caribbean coast, though, the rainy season lasts until the end of November, which means that you might want to wait until early December before trying to score some bargains and great weather. The peak season here won’t start until the end of January.

Partying in Mexico

One thing which never changes regardless of the weather is the party atmosphere in the bigger cities of Mexico.

If you are looking for great parties on a smaller budget, Mexico is the place you should definitely visit. Not only is Mexico full of various festivals and traditional festivities, but they have also embraced the nightlife akin to that of the US.

Most of the best parties can be found in tourist resorts and towns like Cancun and Cabo San Lucas, but you should not neglect the party potential of places like Tijuana and the capital, Mexico City.

Even though Mexico City might be a bit colder than the rest of the country (with average temperatures of around 70° F), you can find everything you are looking from a party town there and more.
