2019 Padma Awards Announced: Complete List of Awardees

On the eve of Republic Day 2019, President Ramnath Kovind announced Padma awards. These awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March or April every year.

For this year, 112 Padma Awards awarded, – 4 Padma Vibhushan, 14 Padma Bhushan & 94 Padma Shri. 21 awardees are women and the list also includes 11 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI, 1 transgender person and 3 posthumous awardees.

Padma Vibhushan

‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service. Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award of the Republic of India, highest is Bharat Ratna. As of 2019, the award has been bestowed on 307 individuals, including twelve posthumous and 20 non-citizen recipients.

Padma Bhushan

Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order. It is the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India, preceded by the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan and followed by the Padma Shri. As of 2019, the award has been bestowed on 1254 individuals, including 21 posthumous and 95 non-citizen recipients.

Padma Shree
